Review: Boscia Self-Defense Vital Antioxidant Moisturizer SPF 30

Dislcaimer: I received a free sample of the Boscia Self-Defense Vital Antioxidant Moisturizer with a Sephora purchase I made. It was not sent for review and I am not receiving compensation for writings. All opinions are honest and 100% my own.

This is my first purchase from Boscia, and based on my experience with it so far, it won't be my last. I've always wanted a morning moisturizer with SPF to block out those harmful UVA/UVB rays. However the first one I tried, a moisturizer from Ambi, was greasy despite claiming to be oil-free, and sat on top of my skin without really blending in. Within two hours, my face was an oil slick, and after I ran out of my first bottle, I never repurchased. It completely turned me off moisturizers with SPF, and for the past few years I've been taking my chances wearing my Clinique moisturizer throughout the day despite the fact that it has no SPF. My excuse was always that being dark skinned I didn't need sun protection, but science is showing more and more that we DO need it, and should take it just as seriously as our lighter skinned sisters.

The sample I received is a pretty big package, with .5 oz of product. The full size contains 1.4 oz. and retails for $36 at Sephora. According to Sephora.com, this product will, "Defend your skin against the first signs of aging with this antioxidant-rich daytime moisturizer that combines moisturizer and sunscreen for nourishment and protection. It absorbs quickly, prevents premature signs of aging, and promotes skin suppleness for a youthful look."

Being 21, I can't speak to whether or not this is preventing signs of aging for me. I don't worry much about wrinkles, though I do think it's better to prevent now than to treat later. However, this moisturizer does absorb lightening fast into my skin, and feels like I'm wearing nothing at all. This is unheard of for me with most moisturizers, so I am thoroughly impressed. It also works well as a primer under my foundations and tinted moisturizers, so I haven't had to go out and buy a new primer after running out of the ones I was using.

For those of you with dry skin, this may not be the moisturizer for you. It's not heavy at all, and I can't see it giving that extra moisture you would need to get rid of the flakes and dry patches you might be suffering with. For oily skinned ladies like myself this product is darn near close to perfect, giving us the SPF protection we need without the extra grease. I haven't experienced any breakouts, and by protecting my skin from the sun, I'm giving my dark marks and hyperpigmentation a chance to lighten up. It's got a hefty price tag, but I think I'll bite the bullet and purchase this when my sample runs out. For me and my skin, it's worth every penny!

You can find this and other Boscia moisturizers at Sephora.com and the Boscia website.

Have you tried anything from Boscia? If so, what did you think?
