MAC Pro Longwear Foundation

Leave it to me to go on vacation and waste MORE money on makeup when I promised I'd stop buying it. Oh well, this purchase was worth it!

I've been nervous about trying MAC foundations. The reviews tend to be mixed and the Studio Fix Fluid is infamous for breaking people out, which is the last thing my combination/oily acne prone skin needs. But longwear foundations are a favorite of mine, so I figured I ought to give this one a try. It retails for $31 USD, making it the most expensive foundation I've purchased.

The first thing I loved about it was the packaging. Unlike my beloved Revlon Colorstay, this bottle has a pump! So many foundations don't these days, and it's irritating because it means you waste more product. This is also a better color match for me than my Revlon Colorstay -- I got this in NW50, and I think it'll be a good summer color. When autumn rolls around, I'll probably go down to NW45.

Now on to the important stuff. This stuff is great. Like holy grail great. It's very hard to make foundation last on my skin, but this one does. I put it to the test by wearing it from around 5 in the morning to 8 in the evening when I went on a 13 hour train ride. There was oil breakthrough after about 5 hours, but it didn't destroy my makeup. A little blotting and it looked just as flawless as it had that morning. All this while I was sitting in North Carolina heat and sweating. Even Revlon Colorstay doesn't hold up as well as this did on me.

Here's a look at me with the foundation on. It covers EVERYTHING with only a few pumps, including my dark marks from old acne. It has a natural finish that's not matte or dewy, and still looks like skin. This is great for me because it leaves me with a nice glow without making my skin greasy throughout the day.

This product makes me sorry I didn't try MAC foundation sooner. It feels light on the skin and I can feel and see a quality difference between this and my drugstore foundations. I will certainly repurchase the minute I run out, and will be recommending it to all my fellow makeup junkies.

Have you tried MAC Pro Longwear foundation? If so, how did it work for you?

  1. Haven't tried any MAC foundations. I hear mixed reviews about most of them, but I always hear good things about their Face and Body so I'd probably get that one if I ever do get a foundation from them. :)

    1. I've heard good things about Face and Body, too. I'm worried that the finish might be too dewy for my oily skin, though. Plus I like lots of coverage, and Face and Body is pretty light.

  2. I haven't yet tried MAC foundations either. I'm worried that I wont like the feel of them, especially with the price tag. But I was really tempted when I went on my NYC trip a few days ago to stop by the MAC counter and make a purchase...

    1. You came to NYC? That's awesome, that's were I live! :) I hope you enjoyed the trip. MAC foundations are definitely worth a try, they have an excellent return policy and you can get your money back if you don't like what you buy. Maybe you could try getting a sample of a foundation you think you might like and see how it works for you.
