Job Interview Makeup

Hello, everyone! I have a job interview later today, and I thought I'd share with you my tips for how to do your makeup for an interview if you have one coming up, too. Ready? Let's do it!

As you can see, the look is very simple and light. I started with MAC Studio Finish concealer and Pro Longwear foundation, building them up to medium/full coverage so that dark marks and acne were all covered and I had a clean canvass to work with.

Instead of using primer on the eyes, I used cream shadows as a base. I find that this is much better when you want colors to pop or you want to build the intensity of a shadow. I used Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe on the inner and middle part of my lid, and Pomegranate Punk in the outer corner. Then I layered my MAC shadow in Omega over Tough as Taupe, and MAC's Cranberry over Pomegranate Punk. I blended with a fluffy brush, then added MAC's Shroom to my tear ducts and as a brow bone highlight. After that, I applied my NYX pencil liner in Black to my upper and lower lash line, and Benefit's They're Real! mascara to my lashes.

For the cheeks, I wanted a natural but defined look. I used my NARS Mata Hari blush, and my new Milani XL bronzer. One side of the bronzer is dark for contouring, the other side is lighter for highlighting. I applied the darker side to the hollows of my cheeks, the sides of my forehead, and my jawline. The lighter side went down the middle of my forehead, nose, and chin, and also on the uppermost part of my cheekbone. This gave a very natural all-over glow that made me look wide awake.

Last but not least, on my lips I used my MAC lipstick in Chic. Lipsticks tend to be a little more mature and professional looking for interview settings, and this berry pink color went perfectly with the reddish-pink look in the crease of the eyes.

So that's it! I hope you like my office appropriate job interview makeup. There are so many more work looks I can show you, so there will probably be more posts like this in the future. Let me know what you think in the comments and what looks you want to see next!

What makeup do you wear to job interviews? How big an effect do you believe it had on whether or not you got hired?

  1. Pretty. I usually just do a bronze over the lid, some liner and mascara. As long as I look old enough, I think they consider me, haha.
