Guest Post: Ash's Summer Beauty Essentials

Hello, all of Jackie's lovely readers! I'm Ash and this is my first ever guest post. Firstly, I would like to thank Jackie for inviting me to write a little guest post for her blog. I'm really excited to share with you my Summer Beauty Essentials, so let's get to it!

Face products:
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer (Oil free)
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer
Skin79 Super Gold BB Cream SPF 25
Maybelline DreamMAT Powder in Translucent
MAC Sheertone Blush in Peaches

During the summer months, the weather gets especially hot and humid, even for an island where it's summer year-round. It's almost like the heat doubles by the time summer comes around. For my face, I like a good primer, light coverage foundations or BB Creams with SPF to even out my skin tone and protect my skin, a moisturizing and luminizing concealer to brighten up my under eye areas, a matte setting powder, and a matte peach-toned blush for that peachy summer glow.

Eye products:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
Rimmel ScandalEyes Shadow Stick in Bulletproof Beige
Avon Ultra Luxury Liners in Black and Eggplant
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils in Whiskey and Electric
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
Maybelline OnebyOne Volum'Express Mascara in Blackest Black (waterproof)

Because my skin is in the combination/oily zone I tend to gravitate towards products that will ensure my makeup stays in place. I always use primer on my lids, and on top of that I use a long-wear cream base like MAC's Paint Pot. By using a "double base" I'm that much more assured that my eye makeup won't go anywhere. For eyeliners, I like options. One day I'll want colored liner, and another day, I'll just want a simple black or brown liner. A pop of color on the lids is so flattering during the summer, and there's no need for eyeshadow. To top it all off, I always curl my lashes and layer on a couple coats of waterproof mascara.

Lip products:
Aquaphor Lip Repair
Flower Lip Service Lip Butter in Rose-y Future
Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch

For my lips, I always use a lip balm, and right now, I'm loving Aquaphor Lip Repair. It keeps my lips super soft and moisturized and is by far the best I've tried. For a light pop of color, I'll use Baby Lips in Pink Punch, because it gives a sweet pink flush to the lips. If I want a more polished look, I'll pop on some of this gorgeous lip butter. If you want to see my review on it, you can go here. And that's all for lips!

Nail polish:
Essence Colour 2 Go in Ultimate Pink
Essie Mint Candy Apple
Wet n Wild Wild Shine in Blazed
OPI Rainbow Connection

Nail polish is great way to add some pops of color, especially when I'm going out with a simple makeup look. These are some of my favorite colors to wear. A bright pink is always a statement. Mint green is my current favorite color, and I think this is the perfect mint. For a more muted tone, I chose a pretty coral that goes with just about anything. Of course, there's glitter. Why pick one color when you can have them all in one?

Face and Skin products:
Bioderma Crealine H2O Solution Micellar
St. Ives Green Tea Scrub
Freeman Anti-Stress Mask Dead Sea Minerals
Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner

Of course, I need something to take the day off, and these are my favorites to end the day. This cleanser is so refreshing, and it takes off everything without leaving an oily film. For waterproof makeup, it'll take a bit longer, but I don't mind the wait. It's very gentle, and I like that. To scrub away the grime, I'm loving this Green Tea Scrub, because it clears my face of all the gunk that accumulates in my pores, leaving me with soft and supple skin. For my hair, I love Moroccan Argan Oil. It leaves my hair so soft and silky, and it replenishes the moisture lost during the hot summer days.

So there you have all of my summer beauty picks. I don't really have a body wash or shampoo pick, because I just use whatever I have in the shower, but everything else, I'm pretty particular with, lol. I hope you've enjoyed this post, and If you like what you read, come on over to my blog and let me know that Jackie sent you.

Take care, you guys, and I will see you next time! :)
