FOTD: Under the Sea

Hi, guys! I was feeling adventurous today and went for a more dramatic eye look than usual. I used a small Sephora palette which was a gift from a friend and had some beautiful colors in it. Sephora shadows are usually pretty hit or miss -- some have beautiful, opaque color, and others are chalky or too glittery. Thankfully, the three colors I wanted to use were all very opaque and looked exactly how I wanted them to.

Here's the full palette. As you can see, it's mostly cool-toned shadows, which are my favorite ones to wear. The following picture is the three blue shades I used for this look:

I used the top color on my lid, the bottom color on my crease, and the middle color in my outer corner. I applied my shadows BEFORE putting on concealer or foundation just in case there was fallout, but I'm happy to say there wasn't any at all, and the blue colors did not exaggerate my dark circles and make me look like I had a black eye.

The trick is to select just the right shades of blue for your skin tone, and be careful in how you apply them. Place them exactly where you want them and no where else, and don't forget to blend out the harsh edges with a separate brush when you've finished -- this is what makes it a smokey eye and not a hot mess. :)

What do you think?
