Black Hair Care: Wearing Relaxed Hair Wavy/Curly

I tried a hairstyle today that I haven't worn in quite awhile, and it all happened by accident. The other day my mom sent me out the store in the middle of the night to pick up something for her. Not knowing that it was pouring outside, I went out in shorts and a long sleeved top and headed out. Needless to say, I was soaked by the time I made it back home.

If you have relaxed hair, you know that despite it being chemically straightened, it can and does frizz when it gets wet, and must then be blow dried and re-straightened to look anything close to the way it did when you got out of the salon. My hair is very, VERY thick, so this process is time consuming. The alternative is to work with the curl of your hair instead of against it and style it accordingly. Being lazy about my hair and not wanting to use too much heat on it at the moment, I picked the latter.

Last night I brushed out my frizzy hair and braided it in medium and large chunks. I made sure all the braids were tight and then tied them up with a scarf and slept in them. When I took them out this morning, the picture above was the end result. I actually really liked the way it came out, and will probably be styling it this way until I can get back to my hair stylist and get a touch-up. What do you think? :)

  1. Oh, I like it! I think you look super cute, and I really couldn't help but notice your eyelashes!!!

    1. Thank you!!! :) I'm trying a new mascara and it's got my lashes looking super long, I'll be reviewing it shortly!
