MAC Haul!

Hello again, lovelies! I think this may be my most exciting post yet. Despite having loved makeup for years and the fact that I've been slowly fine tuning my skills since I was about 15 years old, I am ashamed to say that up until recently, I had absolutely no MAC eyeshadows. I had heard amazing things about them, and aspired to build a collection, but never got around to it until now.

Let's start with the eyshadows in my new MAC Pro Duo Palette, shall we?

Top, left to right: Shroom, (empty), Omega, (empty), Satin Taupe
Middle, left to right: (empty), Soft Brown, (empty), Swish, (empty)
Bottom row, left to right: (empty), Embark, Handwritten, (empty), Carbon

So far I love them all! Swish was disappointing in that it takes layering over a more pigmented cream base to really show up that gorgeous bubblegum pink. Satin Taupe is famous in the MAC world, and I can see why -- it's the prettiest taupe shadow I own, and I'll be using it for plenty of neutral looks in the future.

I also picked up one other famous shade, Cranberry. It's hard to see in the pic, but it's a deep pinkish-red with gold and pink shimmer. In other words, gorgeous! :) Works very well as a crease color with Swish on the lid.

Last but not least, I picked up two pigments -- Pink Pearl and Tan. Pink Pearl is a stunning bright pink with blue duochrome. Tan sounds bland based on it's title, but it's anything but. It's a gorgeous deep golden brown with lots of pretty shimmer. Works great for both day and night looks, as I discovered when my friend used it for my college formal. Both of these can be great everyday shades depending on how you work with them.

If you guys want reviews on any of the products listed here, please leave a comment below and I'll be sure to post one for you! :) Also, let me know what videos you want to see on the new YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/beautymadesimple92), I'm a little stuck for ideas! The video quality isn't great right now, but I'm looking into new cameras to help fix that as we speak!

As requested, here's my YouTube video of this haul, check it out if want to see swatches! :)

How did you start your MAC collection? What are some of your favorite eyeshadow shades?

  1. My MAC collection consists of brush cleaner, pro longwear concealer, paint pot in Painterly, blush in Peaches, and lipstick in Creme Cup. That's it lol. I don't own any shadows. I think your collection is starting off great! You've picked out some staple shadows and the pigments look amazing. Would love to see how you swatch them.
May I suggest photographing the products on a lighter background? I used to have a not so great camera, but if I changed the background and added some white paper around it and had good lighting, I could end up with pretty good photos. Here's a sample DIY for a photo box http://digital-photography-school.com/how-to-make-a-inexpensive-light-tent

Let me know what you think. Oh and what cameras are you looking into? There are a bunch of great ones out there :)

    1. Thank you, Aislinn! I was thinking of maybe getting a white tablecloth and photographing on that, I think I could get much better photos that way. The photo box is also an awesome idea, I just might give it a try! I'll probably end up buying one of the Canon Vixia models, they're relatively affordable and great quality.

    2. The white table cloth would work too since that's what I do, haha! I have a "table" set up in a corner and I taped some white paper on the walls around it since my walls are a tan color. I shine some light from a lamp onto it, and voila! I used to have a photo box too, so they both work.
Vixia's are really good for Youtube I hear. Would love to hear your thoughts on it after your purchase - or any camera you get for that matter. :)

  2. I really need to try MAC eye shadows! Shroom and Omega are such hits! Just found your blog via the Meet Me on the Brighside Blog Hop...lovin' it!! I am your newest follower! Would love for you to check out my blog if you get a chance! xx

I love reading your comments and seeing what you think of the blog. Feel free to leave one anytime, and I will always try to answer any questions you have. :)
