Mariah Carey Eau de Parfum

I have a secret -- I'm not a fragrance person.

For all my love of beauty and fashion, I have never been a collector of perfume, high or low end. When I happen to have a bottle in my possession, it's usually Halle, by the lovely actress Halle Berry, and usually I forget to put it on in the morning and it sits neglected on my desk.

But I recently received Mariah Carey's perfume from my godsister as a Christmas gift, and I hope it will be the start of a small fragrance collection. It seems like a fun thing to review, and I'm ALWAYS looking for new things to review for you guys.

So let's get to the point -- what does this stuff smell like? On me, it's rather musky, a stronger, more earthy scent than I'm used to. I like that it's not terribly floral, as I hate floral scents. But it's not quite as "young" as I would have liked it to be. The beautiful butterfly packaging and pretty purple color can be misleading and make you think this is something you can get for a young teenager you don't know how to shop for -- it's not. It's a more mature scent, and I just barely meet the age bracket (20 years old) where this works.

I like that the scent is strong but not overwhelming, and it lasts a long time. It was pleasant to catch subtle whiffs of it as I worked my 6 hour shift at work. While it's not my favorite scent of the few I've tried, I do like it and fully intend to use it up as I look for scents that are more "me."

You can find Mariah Carey's fragrance line at any local drugstore, though prices will vary depending on location.

  2. Hey Brittney, thanks for stopping by!

It's a really nice perfume for the price, so I highly recommend giving it a try! I'm not quite ready to spend $80 on the high end brands yet. :)

  3. I'll have to give this one a whiff next time I'm in the drugstore. I'm not a fragrance girl either, so taking advice from another non-fragrance girl is probably a good trick!! :D

And thank you for joining my January Blog Hop!! Happy New Year to you!
