Off-Topic Tuesdays: Healthy Eating

Hey, everyone! Welcome to Off-Topic Tuesdays! I thought it would be fun to have one day each week where I talk about my life and the things I do that aren't related to makeup. That way you guys don't get bored with the same content being posted all the time, and get to know who I really am!

So for the last few weeks, I've been on a bit of a health kick. Last year, I lost almost 20 pounds by eating healthy and exercising. But due to laziness and college stress, I quickly regained all that weight back. I was feeling pretty sluggish and out of it, and not liking the negative turn my body was taking. I decided to get back on track, and really make it a lifestyle change rather than a diet.

To make weight loss and healthy eating work for my lifestyle, I had to make a lot of adjustments. I go to school and work part time, so I don't have time to pre-plan meals or even to do a lot of my own cooking. That means lots of takeout,  but as I've discovered, eating out doesn't have to hinder weight loss! I thought I'd share a few takeout goodies I've been munching on that aren't super high in calories and help keep me on track. Please forgive the poor quality of the pictures, I used my phone and hadn't originally planned to post them here!

First up, a pita pizza with broccoli!

This was dinner a couple of nights ago. As you can see, they put a ton of broccoli on top, so I definitely got lots of veggies. The whole wheat pita bread and the protein from the mozzarella cheese filled me up and kept me from feeling deprived.

Up next is my personal favorite, sushi! What you see above is a spicy scallop roll and a spicy salmon roll. Sushi tends to be pretty low cal for the most part, so it's easy to work into my day when I want a healthy lunch or dinner and I'm not sure what to get. There's always a little uptick in my sodium levels because of the soy sauce (even though I always get low sodium sauce), but I'm willing to let that slide for the protein and omega-3 fatty acids this gives me!

Last but not least, this was my breakfast this morning! My parents wanted to go to one of our favorite local diners, and though I know most of their food is horrible for me (the usual, waffles, bacon, french toast, etc.) I said yes. I searched the menu and found a spinach omlette, which sounded delicious, and they even had turkey sausage as a side order! That and a cup of coffee with very little cream and sugar added up to a healthy, filling breakfast that didn't use up all my allotted calories for the day.

Are any of you trying to lose weight? What changes have you made and how did they work for you? Also, be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you want to see next Tuesday! Pick any topic you like. :)
