L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Golden Emerald

If you saw my last CVS haul, you remember me briefly mentioning this eyeshadow. At the time, I had no real intention of reviewing it unless someone specifically requested it. From the outside, it looks like your average jade green -- pretty and useable, but nothing extraordinary. However, the minute I opened it up for the first time this afternoon, I knew I had to put in my two cents regarding this product!

For starters, it's not jade green. It's a deep emerald with LOTS of gold shimmer (in other words, very true to the shade name!). At first glance, it looks almost like a loose pigment, the color is so rich and intense. But thankfully, it is a pressed shadow, and the glitter, which looks like it would create a huge mess when applied, does not cause any fallout.

It takes a little patience and layering, but what you see is what you get with this shadow. All the shimmer, richness, and depth you see in the pan transfers beautifully onto the lid. This had the intensity and uniqueness of shadows twice its price.

This is the look I created with it. Obviously, Golden Emerald is on my lid, and I used my Urban Decay shadow in Blackout on the outer corner. It's been about seven hours, and so far the color has lasted amazingly well on my lid (with UDPP underneath), even though it was incredibly humid and I was sweating a ton while out with my family!

I really underestimated this shadow. I've had it for weeks and didn't bother to use it, partly because there's only so many things you can wear a green eyeshadow with, and partly because I was not expecting it to be anything special. This will definitely be a staple in my train case, and I'm already on the hunt for new colors to see what other gems I pick up!
