Milani Baked Blushes

There's a lot of buzz in the beauty world about these Milani baked blushes. Almost every review I've seen has been a glowing recommendation. But I don't believe they're worth the hype they receive. They're certainly not on par with higher end blushes I've tried.

As you can see, I have two. The one on the left is Dolce Pink, and on the right is Corallina. The first shade, Dolce Pink, looked awful on me. It's too light and too pale a pink for my skin color, and didn't show up at all. I tried to layer it up, but all that got me was chunks of glitter on my cheeks with no color. Corallina, on the other hand, is pretty well pigmented. However, it suffers from the same glitter issues as Dolce Pink. When I swirl my brush in the pan to pic up color, I can see large flecks of gold flying around. If you like glittery blushes, then that might not be an issue for you. For me, it was a bit of a turn off. Luckily most of this glitter did not transfer to my cheeks upon application.

Here's a swatch. Once again, Dolce Pink is on the left and Corallina is on the right. Like most blushes, these both look really sheer in the swatch, but Corallina shows up well on me and I'm sure on a lighter skin tone Dolce Pink would show up as well.

These are good blushes, but they're not as good as the hype led me to believe. They're too glittery and I don't think there's enough variation in the shade range. I wish there were darker pinks that could work with my skin tone -- I don't really need anymore reds and plums in my collection right now, and that's really all Milani is offering for dark skinned girls. I wouldn't repurchase and I wouldn't pay full price -- I got both of these either on sale or with a coupon.

Have you tried the Milani baked blushes? Did you think they were worth the hype, or just another overrated beauty trend?

  1. I love my Milani Blush, which I only purchased because it was a dupe for Nars Orgasm, and I can't afford any high end products at the moment. I love my Milani blush, but I'm sure there are better quality blushes out there.
